The hydra-headed Dave Handford is a man for whom we always keep a welcome in our Leftfield hillsides, and this is another no-fi classic to sit alongside his Ambience Brut and DJ Methodist incarnations. His broken-CD noise doo-dahs are reminiscent of long-forgotten avant gardists Contrastate, working through insinuation rather than Merzbow-style blitzkrieg, as you would expect from a man from the land of song, heroin and quiet-but-frightening men in theme pubs. This CD also finds his other pet sound - tonal headwarp-muzak, a bit like Coil's 'Time Machines' - coming along very nicely, look you. 4/5 DUNCAN BELL - MUZIK - JUNE 2002
